Hey guys, It's me Secret Pie. You all know I am a silly little artist and a Pie, but did you know I am also an entomologist?
After spending a grueling amount of time job hunting, I landed a great job at the United States Department of Agriculture. I got through onboarding and everything--but...then the federal hiring freeze yoinked that away. I made moving plans and now I'm on the backfoot and my life has been thrown into disarray.
If you work in a lab that does entomology/agricultural work or knows someone who does and your lab could use another technician or researcher, I will email you my resume.
I am not even kidding.
I have a masters degree, I am very punctual, and I can work in the lab or the field. I will move anywhere and will move immediately.
Reblogs appreciated.
(Entomology/ecology job hunting advice would also be very appreciated)

I was waiting for weeks for my lab work to come back from the doctor's office. After several rounds of confirmations, it was decided that I wasn’t human, but in fact an ocelot.

I'm starting to think maybe Doc Ock had the right idea.
Not about the criminal thing, but about the detachable robotic arms thing. As someone who works in a lab, I'd give anything for a couple extra sets of arms. It would make things so much faster and easier. I wouldn't have to take multiple trips to the pH meter or fume hood because I could carry all the chemicals and glassware I need in one shot. I could clean all of my glassware at once, instead of having to clean them one at a time. Seriously, the possibilities are endless.
If I had to pick a design, I'd go with this one from Into the Spiderverse,
Tumblr media
partly because it's made of material that looks like it's less likely to scratch up glass beakers and graduated cylinders than Doctor Otto Octavius's metal ones, but also partly because the hands' shape looks like it'd be better suited to cylindrical glassware than Otto's 3-pronged hands are. Otto's design was purpose built to work in physics labs and nuclear reactors. It's still very cool, and believe me, I'd still gladly take it if I couldn't get my hands on Liv's design, but I will admit that his design isn't as well suited to my line of work as hers is.

Some days lab work is boring, and some days you get a message from the PI about putting googly eyes on the instruments.

"The interior of the walls of the site are painted with amorous graffiti…"
When you have to write a site report but can't be quite as crude as the graffiti writers themselves.

Work is so soul crushing, it’s become second nature at this point, there is no separation between me and the tube station, nor the centrifuges, nor the many other machines who’s names I don’t know, their sounds haunt my conscious and unconscious mind, a never ending cacophony of suffering, I can feel the track beneath my feet, I can feel myself becoming one with the floor, I can feel my tendons pulling and tearing to fit the space they must cover, I can hear the screams of the children, no matter how many floors are between us, I can hear their screams

Medical Intern: Actually Medical Technology was my first choice when I graduated high school.
MT: Why? Did you think your grades were too low for medical school?
Intern: No, I was just scared of people.
what is a medical technologist?
